multi asset
Traditional approaches to multi-asset investing are top-down driven and rely on long-term return or risk/reward assumptions to determine the Strategic Asset Allocation.
Short-term shifts around this Strategic Allocation, which are widely thought of as Tactical Asset Allocation, are based on two prerequisites: Short-term mispricings can be identified, taken advantage of and will correct over time and it is possible to forecast which asset class will be a better investment over a given period of time.
Contrary to that, TOBAM’s multi-asset strategy invests without making any top-down longer or shorter term assumptions about the economy, asset classes and factors. Instead, our only aim is to systematically capture as many independent risk drivers as possible with a purely bottom-up driven investment process, and to balance out our strategy’s exposure across them. This is what maximizing diversification is about in TOBAM’s Anti-Benchmark® Multi-Asset strategy.
The asset classes across which we maximize diversification can comprise for instance equities, credit, high yield, inflation linkers, commodities, crypto-related assets.
